The little tern numbers are slowly increasing:
May 22nd – 57
May 23rd – 28
May 24th – 23
May 25th – 60+
May 26th – 80 – One female sat for several hours on a scrape and a male delivered fish on three occasions, but no egg.
May 27th – 40+ – Spring tide
On the 28th we saw significant scraping action with at least three pairs looking sitting.
The Spring tide on the 27/28th of May entangled the outer electric fence and came half way into the enclosure; a big thanks to all who helped disentangle it yesterday. Hopefully now all birds will lay and hatch before the next spring tide end June!
